Andrade El Idolo made a shocking return to AEW earlier this month, aligned with the Don Callis Family and laid out Kenny Omega. But just as fast as he returned, he vanished—and now even the people in the know are staying tight-lipped.

According to Fightful Select, multiple sources spoke to Andrade in the past week and said he seemed to be in good spirits, but never gave any clear explanation for why he’d been pulled from upcoming matches or why he hasn’t been featured on TV since his return.

“We spoke to sources that spoke to Andrade in the last week, who said he seemed in good spirits, but didn’t indicate why he’d pulled from recent shows and hadn’t been on AEW TV since reappearing.”

What’s making this more bizarre is just how quiet things have become behind the scenes. Even those connected to AEW reportedly don’t see this situation as directly Andrade’s or AEW’s fault—but no one will say exactly what’s going on.

“The little bit of response we got was that Andrade is in fact signed, but that the absence was something that at least one person didn’t see as AEW or Andrade’s specific fault.”

This comes after Wrestling Observer Radio’s Bryan Alvarez and Dave Meltzer also questioned Andrade’s status, noting he had disappeared after just one return segment and was pulled from a planned match against LA Park. Meltzer added that people close to the situation know the real reason—but are refusing to share it.

Whatever’s going on, Andrade’s absence from AEW is now officially one of the company’s most unexplained storylines—or non-storylines.
