A self-employed cleaner from Clarington has been charged in connection with several break-and-enters and jewelry thefts.

Durham Regional Police said their investigation into the incidents began last month and identified the suspect as a woman who was operating a business called “Maids to Us.”

“Investigators believe the suspect used her position as a cleaner to gain access to homes, targeting older-aged clientele,” police said in a news release on Thursday.

Earlier this week, police executed a search warrant at the suspect’s home in Bowmanville and allegedly located a “large quantity” of jewelry linked to the incidents.

The suspect, identified as 41-year-old Danielle Margarita Jarrett, was arrested and charged with break-and-enter, theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and two counts of failure to comply with undertaking.

Police released a photo of the suspect, as they are concerned there may be more victims.

They are urging anyone who has hired the suspect to clean their home to contact investigators at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 1649 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
