STOCKTON, Calif. — Senior Brett Pearson earned his spot in the main singles draw as the ITA Regional Championships began today, hosted by Pacific at the Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center. Pearson will now be one of four Huskies competing in main draw play on Friday.
Pearson defeated Portland State’s Hampus Hagglund by a 6-4, 6-4 score to progress to the 64-player main draw. He’ll face Jonty Giesen of Pacific tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. Soham Purohit, Rohan Belday, and Stephane Kamendje will also be in the main singles draw.
Freshman Daniel Bien dropped a 6-4, 6-4 match to Freddie Healey of Sacramento State, and sophomore Nikola Plavsic fell, 6-1, 2-6, 6-3, to Juan Pedro Etchecoin of Saint Mary’s in their bids to reach the main draw.
