Residents of Ramat Hen in Ramat Gan witnessed an unusual sight Friday afternoon when an ostrich escaped from the Ramat Gan Safari and was seen running through neighborhood streets.
According to the Safari, the male ostrich slipped out through the main gate as the ticket booths were closing. “The curious ostrich began running toward the National Park and the nearby Ramat Hen neighborhood, surprising passersby,” the Safari said in a statement.

A team from the Safari immediately set out to bring the bird back. “Just a few minutes after it exited, caretakers from the African Savannah section reached the ostrich, contained it, and waited for the veterinary team, which sedated the bird to ensure its safe return to the Safari,” the statement added.
