Sainz could be facing penalty
That will probably be a Mexico City GP penalty for Sainz – he was never far enough alongside Antonelli to be entitled to space on the inside and the way Sainz locked up suggests he knew disaster was coming his way when the Mercedes swung across.

Lap 8/56
Albon, who took some contact and spun on the first lap, uses the virtual safety car to pit and switch tires. Doesn’t appear any other drivers are taking the opportunity though.

Antonelli was unhappy on the radio about Sainz’s move there. That corner does allow for different lines and Sainz put his nose up the inside, but misjudged it and sent the Mercedes into a spin. Day over for Sainz after a promising weekend up to now.

Virtual safety car
Lap 7/56
Sainz makes a move on Antonelli and the two come together. Antonelli spins off the track but manages to keep his car going. Sainz, however, stops out on track and his race is over. A virtual safety car is deployed while Sainz’s car is dealt with.
