In anticipation of the 2025-26 NBA season, the Toronto Raptors have locked in their opening night roster on Monday.

Year 31 for the franchise will begin with a road matchup agains the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday, catch all the action on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+ at 7:30 p.m. ET / 4:30 p.m. PT.

The Raptors will carry 14 players on standard NBA deals to start the campaign, headlined by franchise cornerstone Scottie Barnes in his fifth NBA season and forward Brandon Ingram, who Toronto acquired at last year’s trade deadline. There will also be two Canadians on the roster for the country’s lone NBA franchise, Mississauga, Ont.’s RJ Barrett and Brampton, Ont.’s AJ Lawson, who was recently brought back on a two-way deal.

Barrett enters the year with plenty to play for as the extension-eligible swingman and the Raptors did not come to an agreement on a new deal before Monday’s deadline. According to Sportsnet’s Michael Grange, that was expected and the two sides will likely revisit the matter before the Canadian’s contract is up at the end of next season.

Grange also reported a couple injury updates ahead of Wednesday’s opener, noting that starting centre Jakob Poeltl was a full participant in practice on Monday after leaving the Raptors pre-season finale against the Brooklyn Nets last Friday due to a lingering back injury.

Meanwhile, 2025 ninth overall pick Collin Murray-Boyles was on the practice court for Toronto as well, but was held out of the contact portion of the day as he recovers from a forearm injury suffered against the Boston Celtics earlier last week.

As for coaching, Darko Rajakovic will hold the clipboard this season, marking his third year manning the sidelines in Toronto. His staff remains the same as last year and will include British Columbia’s Jama Mahlalela, former WNBA head coach James Wade and former Raptors 905 head coach Eric Khoury, among others.
