Andrew Garfield actually lied to Emma Stone about his Spider-Man: No Way Home cameo!

The 36-year-old Bugonia actress appeared on Josh Horowitz‘s Happy Sad Confused podcast during the Monday (October 20) episode and was asked about the secretive Spider-Man team up in 2021 film.

Emma and Andrew, who dated from 2011 to 2015, first met on the set of The Amazing Spider-Man, with Andrew playing the titular superhero and Emma cast as Gwen Stacy.

The podcast host once spoke with the 42-year-old Social Network star about his viral cameo and he admitted to lying to Emma about it.

The actress confirmed this, saying, “I asked him if he was going to be in that. and he was like, ‘I don’t know what you’re talking about.’ ”

“I was like, ‘What? Oh, I guess that means no, right?’ But it wasn’t no, it was yes.”

Andrew was one of three Spider-Mans in No Way Home. Tobey Maguire also returned to reprise his role from the Sam Raimi films and Tom Holland starred in the movie as the Marvel Cinematic Universe‘s own Spider-Man.

The Oscar-winning actress admitted that she hasn’t seen the 2021 Marvel film yet.

“It would be very emotional, I’m sure. But I heard it was fantastic. I will see it eventually.”

In No Way Home, Andrew‘s superhero laments the loss of Gwen in after her tragic death in The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
