KidsAbility says it has made the difficult decision to temporarily pause its Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) therapy program as it looks to deliver the supports in a more sustainable way.
In a statement to 570 NewsRadio, a spokesperson for KidsAbility said:
“The pause has resulted in the a reduction of our temporary workforce, which were contract employees who were hired for a fixed duration of time. Those individuals were notified on October 20 and 21.”
Vice President Wayne Lew posted a statement on the KidsAbility website, which said the organization is not alone in facing challenges in delivering services through an individualized, needs-based model.
He said the organization will focus on supporting affected families and staff through this transition.
The statement also notes that the ABA therapy team will continue to provide care and support until the end of 2025.
It was made clear at the end of the statement that this pause will not impact any other programs at KidsAbility. Including the Entry to School, Foundational Family Services, and Caregiver Mediated Early Years programs.
They all will continue to operate as normal.
ABA therapy services will temporarily pause on Jan. 1, 2026.
