Santos Escobar is set to make his WWE return sooner than you think.
Earlier this month, it was revealed that Santos Escobar’s WWE contract had expired, and he intended to make the jump to All Elite Wrestling.
It certainly seems that WWE caught wind of Escobar’s intentions to jump to the competition and swooped in with a better deal, locking him down to a new contract within 48 hours of his original contract expiring.
Despite being re-signed for a couple of weeks, Escobar hasn’t been seen on WWE programming as Los Garza has continued to compete strictly as a duo. But it appears the leader of Legado del Fantasmo is set to return to WWE programming very soon.
According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Escobar is slated to be at next week’s episode of WWE RAW in Anaheim. This news is particularly interesting as the rest of Escobar’s group is currently on SmackDown. So there’s a chance that Escobar might be a singles act for the company going forward. Whether that’s accurate or not, we’ll find out soon enough.
WWE’s reaction to re-signing Santos Escobar
Word of WWE re-signing Santos Escobar quickly spread throughout the wrestling world. This led to many behind-the-scenes conversations about the new deal.
Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp reported that many within WWE were “pleasantly surprised” that Escobar was returning to the company. It’s also being said that the company’s new offer, following his contract expiring, was “significantly larger” than their original offer to the former NXT Cruiserweight Champion.
Stay tuned to WrestleZone for more information as it becomes available.
