Women’s soccer (11-3-1, 7-2 MAC) enjoyed two wins against Mid-American Conference (MAC) competition this week — a senior day victory over Central Michigan (0-12-2, 0-6-2 MAC) and a road win over Ohio University (3-8-5, 1-4-4 MAC).
The team celebrated senior day with a 1-0 win over Central Michigan at home. Graduate forward Jasmine Guerber scored in the 43rd minute, courtesy of a pass from freshman midfielder Jayda Schoburgh. Junior goalkeeper Lexie Thompson recorded two saves. The Bulls outshot the Chippewas 21-3 to capture their sixth MAC win.
Thursday saw the Bulls in Ohio, where they defeated the Bobcats 2-1. Guerber nearly scored in the 10th minute on a cannon-like shot, though it was stopped. The Bulls didn’t find a point until the 27th minute, when senior defensive midfielder Ellie Simmons set junior defensive midfielder Eva Blatz up for a shot to go up 1-0. The Bulls found their second goal in the 64th minute when senior midfielder Sarah Woods passed to redshirt-senior midfielder Koby Commandant, who scored her second header goal of the season.
Ohio pressured Buffalo’s defense relentlessly, but it was no match for Thompson, who made four saves.
The Bulls lead the MAC with their seven conference wins, as well as their 11 overall wins. They’ve won their last two fixtures since their upset loss to UMass. They look to continue their conference dominance at 6 p.m. Thursday, October 23 at home against Bowling Green (7-1-6, 2-0-5 MAC). The game will be available on ESPN+.
