The New Orleans Saints are in a rebuild and the season has not gone well so far in 2025.

The Saints are 1-6 to start the year, and have scored more than 21 points just once this season.

As the 2025 NFL trade deadline approaches, teams like the Saints are viewed as sellers, and teams will reach out about some of their stars. Two Saints’ players teams are monitoring are receivers Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz.

Will Chris Olave or Rashid Shaheed be traded?

The NFL trade deadline is less than two weeks away, on Tuesday, Nov. 4. The Saints season doesn’t look like it’s turning around anytime soon and that means there’s decisions to be made ahead of the trade deadline.

On Thursday morning, Schultz reported Olave and Shaheed “are being monitored by WR-needy teams ahead of the trade deadline.”

Olave has been with the Saints for four years since they drafted him in 2022. The Saints’ receiver has developed into star material with back-to-back 1,000 yard seasons in his first two years in the NFL.

Olave got injured half-way through the year in 2024, but has 400 receiving yards through seven games this year.

Shaheed has spent his first four years in the NFL with the Saints as well and has been a reliable second or third option in New Orleans’ offense. The Saints receiver has just shy of 2,000 yards across his four years in the NFL and 12 touchdowns, and was named an All-Pro for his return game abilities in 2023.

Either are good fantasy trade targets.

If one gets moved, it’s to a contender most likely (good). If the other stays, then less target competition (good). Sounds like Rashid Shaheed is more likely to get traded, as Olave has been in extension talks. https://t.co/l1VkvEtmrJ

Both players are set to be free agents at the end of the season, and are represented by the same agency.

With the Saints’ likely not pushing for a playoff spot in 2025, the team could look to trade one of their receivers for future assets before losing them in free agency.
