The Orange and Blue faced their first dual match of the year on Saturday, Oct. 18. The Bison easily defeated Millersville 5-2, going 3-0 in doubles play and 4-2 in singles. Natalie Devraj ’28 stepped up as the team leader as the only Bison with wins in both doubles and singles from the day.
The day opened with some quality doubles play from Bucknell, as sophomore pair Devraj and Cameron King ’28 set the tone with a 6-2 victory. Abby Platt ’26 and Riley Jennings ’28 followed suit with a 6-0 win, and dynamic duo Mirra Manolov ’26 and Jaycie Mair ’27 closed out against their opponents, 6-1.Â
Devraj also dominated her singles match in straight 6-0 sets. Tori Allen ’27 followed suit with a 6-4, 6-1 win. Mariana Shulman ’29 and Summer Even-Esh ’29 finished off Millersville in their singles games, 6-2, 6-0 and 6-3, 6-3, respectively. Despite King and Kate Purpura ’29 losing their singles matches, the Bison scored enough singles wins to overpower Millersville.
Jennings and Platt will be back in action this weekend for the Patriot League ITA Conference Masters Qualifiers in Bethlehem, Pa. They will compete in the singles bracket for Bucknell.
