This week, Ariana Grande sat down with internet star Evan Ross Katz to talk Wicked: For Good, touring, music, and more.
During the chat, they also discussed Ariana’s early mentors in the music industry. “I’m very lucky that my idols have been very kind to me,” she answered. “I remember Madonna immediately was very kind. I think she was one of the first people to reach out and give me a warm welcome, and it was just very cool.”

She also named-dropped Mariah Carey and Beyoncé, recalling one time when Beyoncé personally invited her to her music video set. “I was just there in the corner like, ‘Why am I here?'” Ariana joked. “[Beyoncé] just was being kind, she just gave me a little advice — I asked — and she was so kind. Even if I’m not super close, it was just a really kind thing for her to do that.”

Evan then asked, “What about becoming artistic equals with some of these people?”
Ariana immediately shook her head and said, “Not equals.”

“Okay, well, I can say equals,” Evan replied. “You don’t have to say it.”
Ariana frowned at the comment.
Then she side-eyed Evan.
Then she shrugged it off and jumped back into the conversation. But her face said everything.
