Jack Wood, driver of the No. 91 Adaptive One Calipers Chevrolet Silverado RST captured his best NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series (NCTS) career Martinsville finish Friday night after an eye-catching run. Wood started off his day with a hot practice session where he landed in the top five but a mishap in qualifying forced him to start 19th in line. The young driver knew he had a lot of work to do and set his focus forward early on. Cautions started to come out in the first stage and Wood ticked off spots, one by one. With four laps to go, the Loomis, Calif. native held the 14th position where he ultimately ended Stage Two. Wood reported to his team that he felt pretty free and wanted to be tightened up a touch.

Crew chief Josh Graham called the No. 91 down pit road for four tires, fuel and a slight adjustment to help the handling on his race truck. Wood had to restart the second stage 21st due to lack of trucks that pitted but again, he knew what he had to do. With seven laps to go in the stage, the driver of the No. 91 Chevrolet found himself 12th in line and with the field shuffling coming to the green-white-checkered, Wood came across the line for a 13th-place Stage Two finish. The young driver reported he felt more tight now after the adjustments but felt he could make it work. Graham (Josh, crew chief) made the decision to stay out and go for track position. This allowed Wood to restart the final stage third in line.

The Loomis, Calif. battled hard to stay within the top five until a yellow flag fell with just 60 laps remaining in the 200-lap event. He reported to the team that he felt his truck just starting to fade away from him but overall balance felt fine. A quick pit stop under yellow gave the driver of the No. 91 Chevrolet a set of fresh Goodyear tires and some Sunoco race fuel. Restarting towards the back of the pack in 23rd, Wood made the jump to the top 15 fairly quick. A late race melee occurred and yellow flags started to fall left and right, causing chaos for the NCTS field and sending them into NASCAR’s version of overtime. A solid launch by the No. 91 gave him the room to make a move on the inside and settle over the line for a 13th-place finish at Martinsville Speedway.

Jack Wood Quote:

“Feels good to have a solid finish here at Martinsville. This track has really never given me the chance to really give it my all and I think we did just that tonight. Josh and the guys gave me a great package to work with and the truck really felt good all night with just a few handling issues here and there but overall, it was a really good night for this No. 91 team. Super pumped for the 18 guys and to have an MHR truck in the final four is awesome. One more to go.”
