LITTLE ROCK, AR. – Little Rock Women’s Soccer is set to face the Lindenwood Lions in a decisive Ohio Valley Conference matchup that will determine the regular season champion. The Trojans enter Sunday’s contest tied for first place in the OVC standings with Tennessee Tech, making this the final game of the regular season and a direct battle for the conference title.
Lindenwood, last year’s OVC Tournament champion, comes into the matchup as a familiar and formidable opponent. Since the first meeting between the two programs on September 19, 1990, the Trojans hold an 0-4-1 record against the Lions. The teams last met twice during the 2024 season — battling to a scoreless draw on October 20 in St. Charles before meeting again in the OVC Tournament in Cookeville, where Lindenwood edged Little Rock 1-0.
Across five total matchups, the Trojans have netted just two goals while the Lions have scored nine, with the smallest margin of defeat coming in a narrow 1-2 loss at home in 2023. Despite the numbers, the most recent tie earlier this season marked the Trojans’ first result against the Lions, signaling the program’s growth and increasing competitiveness.
Head coach Kelly Farrell said, “Sundays game is a huge matchup. I’m really proud of the team for getting to this point and being able to have ownership over our postseason fate. They’ve worked incredibly hard all year and I know they are locked in for tomorrow’s battle against Lindenwood. Coleman has given us a great home field advantage all year and we look forward to protecting our home turf against Lindenwood.”
Team captain and senior Senni Thake added, “We’re really excited for tomorrow’s game and the opportunity to compete for the OVC regular season title! This group has worked so hard all year, and it’s been amazing to see everything come together. Protecting our home field and staying undefeated here means a lot to us. I know everyone is locked in, focused, and ready to make tomorrow unforgettable.”
Sunday’s match will be held at Coleman Sports Complex with kickoff set for 1 p.m. The game marks Senior Day, as well as the annual Pink Game and Alumni Day — a fitting stage for Little Rock to chase its first-ever OVC regular season title in front of its home crowd.
