PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Brown men’s tennis team finished play at the Ivy League ITA Qualifiers with a strong showing in singles competition consolation matches.

In a hard-fought battle, James Lian faced Cornell’s Rethin Pranav, pushing the match to a decisive super tiebreak before ultimately falling 6-3, 5-7, 10-6. Elliot Wasserman earned a gritty victory over Yale’s Zhengqing Zing, taking the opening set, dropping the second, and then closing out the match in the super tiebreak, 6-4, 3-6, 10-7.

Noah Hernandez also rallied in a three-set thriller against Yale’s Krish Gupta. After dropping the first set, Hernandez fought back to claim the second and edged out the super tiebreak for a 5-7, 7-5, 10-8 win. Lukas Phimvongsa delivered the most decisive result of the day, powering past Yale’s Troy Kudrjavtsev in straight sets, 6-3, 6-0.

Brown will return to action at the ITA Sectional Championships in Chapel Hill, NC (Nov. 6-9).
