NXT Halloween Havoc Results:
Tonight’s WWE NXT premium live event kicks off with a video package hyping tonight’s card.
Je’Von Evans and Leon Slater vs. Mr. Iguana and La Parka
The finish of the match saw Leon Slater hit a Swanton 450 on Mr. Iguana to score the pinfall victory.
Winners: Leon Slater and Je’Von Evans
Grade: B
This was a fun match to kick off the show. I don’t think anyone would have expected any other outcome than what we got here. I think this was more of a showcase match for Slater and Evans than anything else.
Is Ethan Page ready for tonight?
They re-air the sit-down interview with NXT North American Champion Ethan Page from the kickoff show, hyping his Day of the Dead match against El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. later tonight.
Zaria and Sol Ruca are backstage. Zaria tells Ruca that the doctor says she can be at ringside tonight. Ruca is down because of her injury, and Zaria tries to comfort her and promises she’ll leave with her title tonight. They are interrupted by Tatum Paxley and Izzi Dame, who try to give them grief. Zaria reminds Dame that the only woman there tonight who doesn’t have a chance of leaving tonight with a title is her.
Day of the Dead Match for the NXT North American Championship: Ethan Page (c) vs. El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr.
The finish of the match saw Ethan Page hit El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. with a Twisted Grin off the top rope through a table to score the pinfall victory.
Winner: And still NXT North American Champion, Ethan Page
Grade: C+
So, a Day of the Dead match is just a no-disqualification match with mood lighting? Talk about a disappointment. The match itself was fine, but to hype this match up as something special to just get this? I don’t know, man. This didn’t work for me at all.
Jinkies, what a segment…
TNA Knockouts Champion Kelani Jordan is backstage in her private walking room, watching the television. Jordynne Grace comes in dressed up as Velma from Scooby Doo. The two women take shots back and forth at one another. Jordan wants her to leave because she’s waiting to speak to Santino Marella regarding her next title defense.
Grace says she’s good friends with Marella and implies that she’ll be getting the next title shot. Jordan mocks her and says the title holds more weight now than when she held it. Grace slaps her, and Jordan storms out of her own locker room instead of kicking Grace out. Yeah, that was something…
They re-air the sit-down interview with Tatum Paxley and Izzi Dame from the kickoff show. You can check it out below:
NXT Women’s North American Championship: Zaria (w/ Sol Ruca) vs. Blake Monroe
The finish of the match saw Blake Monroe hit Zaria with a Glamour Shot DDT to score the pinfall victory.
Winner: And NEW NXT Women’s North American Champion, Blake Monroe
Grade: B
I didn’t like the way they set this match up on Tuesday night, and I could have predicted this finish that same evening. I’m still not entirely convinced Sol Ruca is even hurt. I’d be willing to bet this “injury” is just a storyline, and doing a title change in this fashion just diminishes the value of the title. The match itself was good, but the story leading into it was awful. But I’m not placing any blame on the competitors for Shawn Michaels’ terrible booking.
An Evolve Title match is set for NXT on Tuesday
Wren Sinclair, Karmen Petrovic, and Kendall Grey are backstage. Sinclair is on a FaceTime call with Charlie Dempsey, who is still overseas in Japan. After the call, they are interrupted by Lash Legend, who has words with Grey. Legend talks her way into an Evolve Women’s Title match this Tuesday night on NXT.
NXT Women’s Championship: Jacy Jayne (c) (w/ Fatal Influence) vs. Tatum Paxley (w/ The Culling)
Late in the match, the referee ejects everyone at ringside to the backstage area. The finish of the match saw everyone return to ringside and while the referee was distracted, Izzi Dame got in the ring with the title and teased hitting Paxley before charging at Jayne and getting laid out. Tatum Paxley capitalizes and hits Jayne with the Cemetery Drive to score the pinfall victory.
Winner: And NEW NXT Women’s Champion, Tatum Paxley
Grade: C-
Easily the worst thing on the show tonight. With what’s left, I don’t think anything will be worse, so this wins the worst match of the night. I don’t think these women had any good chemistry with each other, and this match was very slow and sloppy throughout. Hoping the final two matches can end this night on a high note because this wasn’t good at all. I’m happy Paxley got her moment, but I really wish the match had been better.
Broken Rules Match for the NXT Tag Team Championship: The Broken Hardys (c) vs. DarkState
The finish of the match saw DarkState put Jeff Hardy through a table with a Doomsday Device to score the pinfall victory.
Winners: And NEW NXT Tag Team Champions, DarkState
Grade: B+
Unlike the Day of the Dead match earlier, this is exactly what I would expect from a Hardys plunder match. While the match itself was very fun, the creative behind it was incredibly frustrating. DarkState ruined Leon Slater and Je’Von Evans’ match at Bound For Glory, and both men are in the building and just decide to sit in the back and not assist the Hardys in a glorified handicap match? Come on, man. That’s freaking lame!
Leon Slater and Je’Von Evans try to explain away what we just saw
Je’Von Evans and Leon Slater are backstage. Both men are upset about DarkState beating the Hardys. Slater claims the Matt and Jeff told him not to get involved, but that makes little sense when they knew they were walking into a handicap match. Evans pitches that they go after the NXT Tag Team Titles. Slater says he’s a bit busy defending the X-Division Championship at the moment, but as soon as he’s free, he’s down to chase the titles with Evans.
NXT Championship: Ricky Saints (c) vs. Trick Williams
