A man has been charged with murder in relation to a 2021 shooting in Burnaby, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) said Saturday.

On Feb. 11, 2021, the Burnaby RCMP was called to the area of McKee Street near Curagh Avenue, where they found 44-year-old Neal Pretap suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Pretap was taken to hospital, where he later died.

“This shooting took place in what is usually a very quiet neighbourhood in Burnaby,” said Sgt. Freda Fong of IHIT.

“Residents in the area were certainly surprised and left feeling uneasy after this incident.”

Vancouver resident Liam Reilly was arrested Friday and has been charged with second-degree murder.

Reilly remains in custody, IHIT says.
