Welcome to What’s On, our weekly roundup of notable shows. Here is what’s happening on TV from Sunday, October 26 to Saturday, November 1. All times are Eastern.
This series prequel to the It movies mines from the interludes of Stephen King’s book to unravel Pennywise’s (Bill Skarsgård) history. The show, which co-creator and -director Andy Muschietti said is “creepier” than the films, explores the clown’s reign of terror on a group of teens in 1962, while the military sets up base in town to figure out the mystery behind Derry’s lore. The A.V. Club will recap the show weekly.
The latest entry into AMC’s Immortal Universe explores the covert organization that spies on and keeps track of supernatural creatures. The Secret Order follows a lawyer (Nicholas Denton) who gets roped into working at the Talamasca and discovers his personal ties to a mystical world. Read The A.V. Club‘s review here.
After the success of Slow Horses, Apple TV delivers another Mick Herron adaptation. In Down Cemetery Road, a woman (Ruth Wilson) looks into the disappearance of a young girl after an explosion rocks her quiet London neighborhood. It leads her to the doors of an investigator (Emma Thompson), with the two digging into a conspiracy larger than anyone could’ve anticipated. Look for The A.V. Club‘s review on Wednesday.
The Witcher (Netflix, Thursday, 3:01 a.m.)
Goodbye, Henry Cavill. Hello, Liam Hemsworth. The latter takes over as Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher‘s fourth season, in which Geralt, Yennefer (Anya Chalotra), and Ciri (Freya Allen) get separated and encounter other unexpected allies as they try to find their way back to each other.
