Taylor Fritz was surprisingly beaten by Ugo Humbert in Basel, and now he will switch his focus towards the Paris Masters.

Fritz has enjoyed a relatively good 2025, reaching the semifinal at Wimbledon earlier this year.

Fritz has done something in the second half of the year that nobody else can manage, and the American is a very useful player.

Fritz needs to get over the line and win one of the game’s major titles, and it does feel like one day he will claim a major crown.

Fritz defeated Valentin Vacherot earlier in the tournament in Switzerland, but his defeat to Humbert is somewhat shocking.

Fritz is clearly a talented player, and losing to Humbert was somewhat surprising for the American.

The 27-year-old needs to get himself over the line for a Grand Slam title, and that’s what he will be working towards in January.

After losing to Humbert, Fritz took to social media to send a message to his fan base.

He said: “Thank you @swissindoorsbasel_official wish I could have had a better week but I really do enjoy coming here and playing this event 👌🏻 Time to finish the season strong in Paris.”

Fritz could cause a stir at the ATP Finals

Fritz has proved that he can beat Carlos Alcaraz this year, stunning him at the Laver Cup recently.

That said, he’s got to start showing more credentials when it comes to the big tournaments and that could start with the ATP Finals.

Fritz will go into the tournament as a relative underdog, but there is no reason why he can’t get himself over the line in Turin.

The American player is the number one in his country and the challenge is to get over the line at a big tournament in the near future.

Clearly, Fritz is disappointed to lose to Humbert, but now he will get some more rest and ensure he’s capable of going again next week.
