It’s no secret that Samsung is quietly cooking up the next big update, One UI 8.5. It’s set to roll out publicly after the launch of the Galaxy S26 series, but reports suggest Samsung will kick off a beta program sometime in late November. We’ve already dug in and uncovered a bunch of features and enhancements it will bring. And now, there’s something fresh on the horizon.

One UI 8.5 makes sure you never miss important notifications by letting you prioritize them

A newly leaked One UI 8.5 firmware brings a handy feature that helps you prioritize certain notifications. True to its name, it’s called Prioritize notifications. In a screenshot shared with us, the description reads: Notifications that may be important will appear above other notifications to make sure you don’t miss them.

Prioritize Notifications

Another line notes: You can choose whether to prioritize notifications for each app in the app’s notification settings. This suggests that with the One UI 8.5 update, you will be able to select specific apps and have their notifications appear above others. For example, if you keep missing emails from Outlook, you could manually prioritize notifications from that app. No matter when you pick up your phone, those unread email alerts will always appear on top.

Of course, that is just one example and you could use this feature for many other apps. The description also mentions that Notification content is processed on your phone. In other words, your notification data will not be sent to the cloud or processed elsewhere. Everything is handled on-device, which is reassuring and important.

We cannot wait to share what else the newly leaked firmware (CYJH) has in store. It is unclear whether the beta version will include all these features, but there is a strong chance the final build rolling out with the Galaxy S26 series will include all of these smart tweaks.
