TULSA – Rice’s doubles team of Petro Kuzmenok and Santiago Navarro capped a perfect weekend with a win in the American Doubles Championship final on Sunday.

The top-seeded duo defeated Charlotte’s No. 2-seeded pair of Vasco Prata and Ivan Dreycopp 7-6 (4), 6-7 (9), 10-5 to secure their spot in the ITA Conference Masters Championships, where they will represent the American.

Both sets were tightly contested, with each decided in a tiebreak. The Owls took the first set 7-6 (4) before falling 6-7 (9) in the second. In the decisive 10-point tiebreak, Kuzmenok and Navarro pulled away to clinch the victory and finish the weekend 3-0.

The duo will compete at the ITA Conference Masters Championships on Nov. 6-9 in San Diego.
