The controversy around the tush push is never-ending for the NFL.

During Sunday’s game against the New York Giants, the Philadelphia Eagles lined up for their infamous short-yardage play on a fourth down.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts crossed the line to gain for the first down, but as he continued to push for forward progress, the ball would be ripped loose by Giants defender Kayvon Thibodeaux and recovered by New York.

The referees would rule that the play was whistled dead as Hurts’ progress was stopped, which would rule him down before the ball came down.

However, it appears that Hurts’ progress was not stopped and that it should’ve been a live ball on the fumble but forward progress cannot be reviewed.

Philadelphia would eventually score a touchdown by running back Saquon Barkley.

The tush push play has been a major talking point in the NFL, with a ban being brought to the table at the owners’ meeting, but it did not receive enough votes.

Back in Week 2, the NFL admitted that there was a missed penalty for at least one false start when the Eagles used the tush push against the Kansas City Chiefs.
