During their practice, Dylan explained he loves “romantasy” audio books. This week, he’s playing a vampire as Danielle plays a vampire who can’t see and falls in love with him.

The opening clip cuts to footage of him in a doctor’s office as Dylan reveals his partner Danielle broke his nose during rehearsal. “It’s just a little crooked,” he says. Danielle breaks down in tears. “I feel horrible,” she said. “He’s been improving so much, I don’t want to get in the way.”

Although he’s worried about moves getting close to his face, Dylan’s ready to take on the Viennese Waltz to “Can’t Help Falling in Love (DARK)” by Tommee Profitt and brooke.

“You are the most improved couple of the season,” says Cheryl, as she pointed out he needs to “lead with the legs.”

Bruno called the dance “sexy” and said “he liked it.”

Carrie Ann said he understands the emotion behind each move and that’s what “draws us in.”

Derek called him “smooth as velvet.” He praised their chemistry too, before telling him to watch his frame. He added Dylan may need to change his profession too, after telling Robert the same thing last week.

Alix said her Halloween costume in 2024 took “12 hours to get into” and she’s channeling that commitment into her performance tonight.

Partner Val told her “her best is not good enough anymore” as they rehearsed their Tango to Billie Eilish‘s “Bury a Friend.” He explained this dance has a lot of refinement and after Alix asked him to be “harder on me,” she was seen in tears from the stress. Finally, he told her she did a “great job” during practice.

They performed their precise routine and ended with a knock to the head, as they fell into a graveyard.

“That was chilling, intense it was sharp, it was controlled,” said Derek. “That was fantastic.”

Cheryl said the Tango is full of passion and fire “and you did it all, girl.” She critiqued that they “broke hold” but praised them otherwise.

“Drop dead good,” said Bruno.

Carrie Ann told her: “Mad respect for joining the process.”

Carrie Ann said the intro with the troupe dances was “off the charts.” She critiqued Jen’s arm movements and said she wants her to “improve.”

Derek commented that he has “no time to talk” and praised Jan’s first season on the show. He told Jen to “stress those feet” during her kicks.

Cheryl called this her “best dance” this season while she told them to work on their “connection.”

Bruno wants Jen to let the dark side go more often and to “let the beast out” before giving some notes on seeing more connection within movements of her dancing.

In their sultry dance, Robert took charge in the passionate performance.

Bruno told him he “literally killed it” adding “that was deadly hot.”

Carrie Ann said she “believed” him as a leading man for the Argentine Tango and “led” the whole dance.

“That first moment — the whole room went silent,” said Derek. “Well done my man.”

Cheryl said she can’t believe he doesn’t have dance experience. “A showman,” she said. She told him moving forward, to “make love to the floor with your feet.”

Danielle said she felt “very present” in her body last week and it got her her highest score. This week, she told her partner Pasha that she wanted to reveal she’s “dead” halfway through their performance.

Dancing the Viennese waltz to “Die with a Smile” by Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars, the two wore wedding attire, with Danielle in a white dress and Pasha in a tux. After waltzing across the ballroom floor, Danielle exposed blood stains across her dress and on her hands halfway through.

Cheryl called it a “proper” Waltz but wants to see more exaggerated emotion.

Bruno said he “felt it deeply” about her performance. “You married a murderer, what is going on here?” Adding that he, “loved it.”

Carrie Ann said she had “mixed emotions” about her performance and that she agreed with Cheryl that she needs to “let her power out.”

“I love watching you dance,” said Derek, as he compliment her stride. But he said it’s “lacking the movement from the torso.”

During Elaine’s time in the episode, Alfonso and Julianne explained she’s still in the competition and “still need your votes.”

During rehearsals, Elaine said she danced in her bare feet last week and because of that, she “ripped half the skin” off her right foot due to her “titanium joint.” She joked it’s “ghoulish” for Halloween week.

During rehearsals in the ballroom on Tuesday morning, partner Alan said she “froze” and said she couldn’t breathe because “something happened with her rib.”

Elaine was carried off of the ballroom floor on a stretcher and escorted off the property in an ambulance. Alfonso said doctors cleared her to stay in the competition if “she survives tonight’s elimination.”

Alfonso explained Elaine will need votes from the judges and the audience and it will be based on her last full rehearsal. The show played a clip from her and Alan dancing an Argentine Tango to “Bad to the Bone” by 2WEI and Bri Bryant.

Derek wished her a speedy recovery and said “she would have gone up 10 gears” from the rehearsal video had she been able to perform tonight.

Cheryl said she’s a “huge fan” of Elaine’s but she said she and Alan need to work on “transitions” moving forward.

Bruno praised Alan’s choreography and knew Elaine would have added more passion if she performed it live.

Carrie Ann said she was looking “hot and sexy” in the rehearsal. “Come on back, Elaine!”

Alan said she’s “determined” to come back next week. “Please vote.”

Andy performed as a priest for his Paso Doble to “Symphony No. 5 in C minor, Op. 67: I. Allegro con brio” by Ludwig van Beethoven, as a nod to his role in Scary Movie.

The performance opened with a black and white sequence, before partner Emma Slater joined him for a dramatic choreography.

Carrie Ann told him he gets “better and better” each week, and his postured improved. She gave a “general note” to use his legs more.

Derek snapped his “6” padel and praised his commitment.

Cheryl called him “the heart of the show.” She told him moving forward, he should feel “tension” through his finger tips with his extension.

Bruno said he “really captured” a cult classic horror vibe.

Reflecting on her Rumba last week, which earned her 10s, Jordan Chiles said her next goal is to be at the top “by herself.”

She opened up about the “depressed” state she was in in her gymnastic career and explained how she connected to the song she’s dancing to this week: Sia‘s “Elastic Heart.”

For their contemporary performance, she incorporated a harness in the beginning of their dance as her partner Ezra Sosa swung her around for an electric opener. She also showed off her gymnastic skills in the performance. After, Alfonso commented the “entire ballroom is on their feet.”

Bruno told her “nothing can hold her back, because you believe.”

Carrie Ann loved that she “explored” new movements, but said she sometimes “struggled” with the prop.

Derek praised the athleticism, but said the execution wasn’t “fully realized.”

Cheryl said she wants to see “their trust and bond through your emotion” to bring their partnership to “another level.”

Jordan explained the rope symbolized that “needing help is ok” and “being able to have the rope as my third person to do whatever I need to do is OK.” She added, “Depression is really hard; you’re always loved.”

Whitney broke down ahead of her dance saying she was “very overwhelmed” juggling her life and the pressures of the show, after scoring the first 10s of the season last week.

Whitney explained she feels like she “needs to say yes to everything” because she “doesn’t know how long the spotlight will last.” But she acknowledged she needs to say no as the competition gets harder.

After letting out a big “therapeutic” scream, she was ready for her jazz performance to Green Day‘s “Brain Stew.”

Dressed in matching striped outfits with dark eye makeup, she performed an electric performance with partner Mark Ballas.

Cheryl told them she was “impressed” with their partnership, as well as Mark’s choreography. She mentioned they need to “watch their timing” and their peripheral vision.

Bruno praised them for a “mind blowing” performance, that was mixed with “so many jazz” techniques.

Carrie Ann agreed with Cheryl that they were “slightly” out of sync, but encouraged Whitney to allow herself to make mistakes so she can “create magic.”

Derek said it was “no tricks and all treats.” He said because the difficulty was so high, the slight imperfections were understandable.

Former pro Maks Chmerkovskiy said on the Oct. 24 episode of his wife Peta Murgatroyd‘s podcast, The Penthouse with Peta, that Jan has “absolutely no business being a pro on DWTS.”

He further said that Jan has “zero foundation, technique, quality, understanding of the partnership” and that his casting was “absurd.” Despite his criticism, he said he has “zero against [Jan] whatsoever” and that it’s “not his fault.”

Jan seemingly responded on his Instagram stories by posting the lyric “I’ll be the actress starring in your bad dreams” from Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do,” his and Jen’s song for the evening.

Jen also showed her support for Jan in an Oct. 27 TikTok video, in which she types on her phone, mimicking leaving comments.

“Take it down. Take it down. Take it down. We need it gone. Take it down. That doesn’t represent me or what we need to be doing,” Jan then lip syncs while wearing a K95 mask. The text on the video reads, “Me when anyone talks trash about Jan.”

“We don’t tolerate Jan slander in this house !! @Jan Ravnik @Dancing with the Stars #DWTS,” Jen wrote in the caption.

Two-time Mirrorball champion Cheryl Burke will join Derek HoughCarrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli as a guest judge for Halloween Night.

It’s been three years since Cheryl left DWTS, and although she has been critical about her disappointment surrounding her exit, she told PEOPLE she’s looking forward to being back in the ballroom.

“It’s gonna be emotional, but I am here in a different way this time,” she said. “I’m here for the couples, and I really hope to be able to give constructive criticism, but also be encouraging. And I know what it takes. I have been there.”

Cheryl was on the competition series for 17 years when she decided to take a step away in 2022. She has previously explained that while the departure was voluntary, she had to “fight” for her farewell performance and “lost friendships along the way.”

She later called the show out for not inviting her back to pay tribute to late judge Len Goodman for its October 2023 “Most Memorable Year” episode. In April 2024, when asked if she feels like she’s still a part of the DWTS family, Cheryl said, “Definitely not.”

Cheryl said she has no regrets about anything that she’s shared.

“It’s my experience,” she said. “Unfortunately, when it comes to headlines, I can’t control that, and we all know that headlines, unfortunately, sometimes focus on negative stuff. But within the context of what I’ve always said, I’ve always gone back to the fact of how grateful I am to have been a part of such a huge, iconic show like Dancing with the Stars.”
