Last Tuesday, October 21st, the Fighting Scots Girls Tennis Team hosted Jurupa Hills high school for their last home match. The seniors that will be graduating this June 2026 are, Lilly Olson, Kailey Chan, Jamie Peck, Annie Garcia, Kaylie Serrato, and Lyla Farley. We wish you ladies the best.

As the Girls Varsity Volleyball team have coined the word, huck-ups as a way of saying things are not going as well as things could, this year, the Varsity Girls Tennis Team have their share of hick-ups, yet the determination was there to overcome. This match was tooth and nail and even in a tie breaker, the Fighting Scots showed their competitive spirit and pulled out a win for the team.

Lyla Nucci and Annie Garcia in doubles play won their first round with a score of 6-3, unfortunately dropped the second round with a score of 2-6 and won the last round 6-3.  On Court 5, doubles play, Lyla Farley lost the first round 3-6, came back strong with a win in the next round with a score 6-1, and kept the momentum going for the final round with a score of 6-3.  In singles play, Kaylie Serrato, on court 6, won the first round 6-0, then lost the second round 2-6, and fought hard in the last round but in a heartbreak fell short in the last round with a score of 5-7.

The match, from a team aspect, was as exciting as one can get as the team scores were coming in and going down to the wire. Carli Walleman and Charley Patton after being down with a score of 1-5, came back with the focus to finish out with a win with the score of 7-5. When the score was tabulated, there was a 9-9 tie between Jurupa Hills and Rim. As the sun was fading in the west and in singles play, Lillie Reid, went on to the court, there was a hush as all eyes were focused on Lillie, with absolutely no pressure, ha, she dug into her sole and with confidence blistered her opponent winning all three sets and pushing the team score to a resounding Rim Girls Tennis, 85 and 79.

Congratulations to all the Rin Fighting Scots Girls Tennis Team for an exciting match and win. Go Rim!
