Ever since its 2021 premiere, The White Lotus has turned into an international hit. With dreamy, sandy locations, Season 4 has just received a massive update.

Per Variety, The White Lotus Season 4 will no longer film at the Four Seasons. All previous entries have taken place at Four Seasons properties across Hawaii, Sicily, Italy, and Thailand, but the upcoming Season 4 will “go a different route” as HBO hasn’t renewed its partnership with the famous hotel chain. At the same time, the outlet doubled down on the rumors that it would take place in France.

The previous update about Season 4, which has yet to receive an official location update from HBO, came in early September. At the time, Deadline reported that The White Lotus Season 4 was officially headed to the shores of France.

Variety now doubles down on the same setting, teasing that the drama anthology, created by Mike White, has been scouting locations in France, eyeing two iconic locations: Paris and the French Riviera.

Having two locations will mirror Season 3, which was mostly shot on the island of Koh Samui, but also featured several scenes in Bangkok, where Walton Goggins’ Rick prepared his revenge as he went to track down his father’s alleged killer. Season 4 will likely follow a similar story, with a main location in the South of France and a subplot in Paris.

While the French Riviera had been previously teased, and the Paris subplot is an exciting addition, ending its partnership with the Four Seasons marks the end of an era. Season 1 was set in Hawaii, filming at the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea, followed by San Domenico Palace, Taormina, A Four Seasons Hotel in Season 2. Season 3 was filmed at the Four Seasons Resort in Koh Samui, Thailand, as the main setting. At the same time, it allows The White Lotus to turn into something fresh. The luxury resort hotel chain has already gotten viewers used to the tropical luxury they bring, and a brand-new location could add something new to the hit show.

Some of the locations visited in Paris continue the same luxury idea as in previous seasons. One of them is the iconic Le Lutetia, which is a five-star property on the Left Bank of the Seine. The property marked the second home for multiple iconic figures over the years, including Charlie Chaplin, Ernest Hemingway, Pablo Picasso, and Josephine Baker. The Ritz Paris, another five-star hotel with a celebrity past like Coco Chanel, F. Scott Fitzgerald, and Marcel Proust, is also on the list.

As the show has become more and more popular, the pressure to feature more high-profile stars is even bigger. However, aside from the French setting, few details are known about what’s to come. Although The White Lotus was originally a limited series that has spread into multiple seasons, the latest entry is now challenging the show’s anthology status.

Characters like Tanya (Jennifer Coolidge), Greg (Jon Gries), and Belinda (Natasha Rothwell) made their way back in multiple seasons, and, aside from Tanya, their arcs aren’t done. More Season 3 stars teased their interest in returning, but Season 4 hasn’t cast any actors yet. However, it’s likely it would follow the same pattern as the previous seasons, and mix American actors with local stars the way they did with Sabrina Impacciatore in Season 2 or Blackpink’s Lisa, Tayme Thapthimthong, and Lek Patravadi in Season 3.

The White Lotus Season 4 is expected to start filming in 2026.
