After previously filing to trademark the phrase “mebounds,” Chicago Sky star Angel Reese has now officially trademarked her name as well.
On Tuesday, Heitner Legal posted a photo of the filing with the United States Patent and Trademark Office on X:
The trademark was filed by Angel Reese LLC, which is a limited liability company owned by Reese in her home state of Maryland.
Reese has been busy on the trademark front this year, and it started with “mebounds,” which was a phrase jokingly coined on social media due to Reese’s propensity for grabbing her own offensive rebounds after missed shots.
At around the same time she filed for the “mebounds” trademark back in June, Reese discussed the term in a TikTok video and explained why she was a fan of it.
“Whoever came up with the ‘mebounds’ thing, y’all ate because ‘mebounds’, rebounds, crebounds… anything that comes off that board, it’s mine,” Reese said. “And a brand? That’s six figures right there. The trolling, I love when y’all do it because, like, the ideas be good. Like, when y’all have to alter my face and s–t because I’m cute, alright, whatever. That doesn’t get me. But when y’all came up with ‘mebounds’—because statistically, all the rebounds that I get aren’t always just mine. They’re, like, the defenses, too, or somebody else on my team—but, when y’all came up with ‘mebounds,’ y’all ate.”
Reese, 23, recently completed her second WNBA season after going seventh overall to the Sky in the 2024 WNBA draft.
As a rookie, Reese averaged 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds per game en route to being named an All-Star and finishing second to Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark in the WNBA Rookie of the Year voting.
Reese broke the WNBA’s single-season rebounding record, and she also set new marks for most consecutive double-doubles and most consecutive 20-rebound games.
Although a back injury limited Reese to 30 games in 2025, she continued to play at a high level when healthy, averaging 14.7 points and 12.6 rebounds per contest.
Her overall improvement was evident as well with Reese going from shooting 39.1 percent from the field in 2024 to 45.8 percent last season. She also went from averaging 1.9 assists per game to 3.7.
Despite Reese’s strong play, the Sky finished tied with the Dallas Wings for the worst record in the WNBA last season at 10-34, and Chicago has now finished with a losing mark in three consecutive seasons.
Amid the team’s struggles, Reese made her frustrations known last season when she told the Chicago Tribune (h/t ESPN’s Alexa Philippou) that the Sky need to “get great players” or else she would consider trying to get moved to a different team.
Although Reese later said she apologized to her teammates for her remarks, the Sky suspended her for one half of a game due to “statements detrimental to the team.”
During the first season of the Unrivaled three-on-three women’s basketball league earlier this year, Reese won a championship as a member of Rose BC.
The 2026 Unrivaled season begins in January, and it isn’t yet known if Reese intends to play as preparation for her third WNBA campaign.
