The rear OLED panel is very easy to read thanks to its high brightness and sharp display. Besides showing the time and accepting calls, users can swipe down to view messages and control individual apps, such as Xiaomi’s music app. However, third-party apps cannot be installed here, which limits its everyday usefulness. What remains is the ability to use the Leica cameras on the back for videos and selfies.
At present, the 2.7-inch secondary display is more of a nice-to-have than a real selling point. The idea certainly has potential, but third-party apps and additional functions need to be implemented. It is unclear why Xiaomi is treating this unique selling point so shabbily, as the manufacturer is known to have experience with small additional screens.
