While the Canadian sports world locks in on the Toronto Blue Jays pursuit of a World Series title this weekend, the Canadian Football League will be getting their postseason underway with the East and West Division semifinals in the leadup to Grey Cup 112 in Winnipeg.Â
With a CFL best record of 12-6, the Saskatchewan Roughriders earned a bye to next week’s West Final, where they will host the winner of tomorrow’s matchup between the Calgary Stampeders and BC Lions for a chance to advance to the Grey Cup on Sunday, November 16.Â
With the week off, I thought it was a good chance to catch up with Roughriders offensive lineman Logan Ferland, fresh off his second consecutive season being named to the All-CFL team alongside nine other all-star teammates.Â

We kept the conversation light for the bye week, as Ferland shared the vibe out of the Roughriders locker room, before talking about a previous bye week hunting trip with running back A.J. Oullette. We then shifted into some alma-mater talk as Ferland’s Regina Thunder just lost out in the CJFL playoffs, but his Melfort Comets high school team is still alive, taking on a good team in Humboldt this weekend for the SHSAA nine-aside semifinals.Â
