Los Angeles Chargers and Detroit Lions fans will get their first real look at how the 2025 NFL draft and free agency have reshaped their teams on Thursday, July 31.

The Hall of Fame Game between the Chargers and Lions (8 p.m. ET on NBC) kicks off the 2025 preseason schedule, which starts in earnest on Aug. 7 and runs through Aug. 23.

To be sure, the preseason is no guarantee of interesting football or future results. Just ask the Tennessee Titans, who went 3-0 last preseason but managed only three wins in the regular season.

Still, the NFL has lined up a few intriguing nationally televised matchups. On Monday, Aug. 18, ESPN viewers might catch a rematch of last year’s Week 3 Monday Night Football Game between the Cincinnati Bengals’ Joe Burrow and the Washington Commanders’ Jayden Daniels, which became Daniel’s coming-out party.
