Greece achieved a primary surplus of 4.519 billion euros in the first half of 2025, according to figures on the execution of the state budget released by the Economy and Finance Ministry on Friday.

According to the data available for the execution of the state budget on a modified cash basis, the budget balance for the period of January-June of 2025 presented a deficit of €564 million, against the target of a deficit of €2.795 billion that has been incorporated for the same period in the 2025 budget introductory report and a deficit of €2.256 billion for the same period of 2024.

On a modified cash basis the state budget primary balance amounted to a surplus of €4.519 billion, against the primary surplus target of €2.235 billion and the primary surplus of €2.905 billion in the same period of the previous year.

It is noted that an amount of €792 million, which refers to the time differentiation of ordinary budget transfers, and an amount of €433 million, which refers to the time differentiation of military procurement, do not affect the general government outcome in fiscal terms.
