The Winnipeg Blue Bombers will be without a top threat in the passing game when they cross over to take on the Montreal Alouettes in the East Division Semi-Final, as Nic Demski has been ruled out with a hamstring issue.

TSN’s Matthew Scianitti reported that Demski worked out the injury in pre-game warmups, but was ultimately not healthy enough to suit up.

Demski, 31, has been Winnipeg’s top performer in the passing game this season, as he led the team in catches (67), receiving yards (1,001) and receiving touchdowns (7) in the regular season.

Missing Demski will provide another hurdle for veteran signal caller Zach Collaros to clear if he is to will the Bombers to an unlikely victory in the crossover.

It is Winnipeg’s first time as a franchise participating as a crossover team, and Collaros described it as “pretty cool” to have the chance to be the first time to overcome the ‘crossover curse.’ No team has ever made the Grey Cup after qualifying for the playoffs as a crossover.

The East Division Semi-Final kicks off Satruday at 2p.m. ET / 11a.m. PT on TSN1/4/5, TSN.ca and the TSN App.
