The Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) has announced the evolution of Qi charging with “Qi2 25W,” a faster charging option for flagship Android smartphones and iPhones.
Previously, the WPC had confirmed that Google was working to boost Qi2 charging speeds. However, it’s unclear if Google’s Pixel will sport Qi2 or if this will work alongside the company’s upcoming magnetic charging cases, notably called ‘Pixelsnap.’
WPC said fourteen devices, receivers, and transmitters were completed with Qi2 25W certification testing launched last week. Additionally, several hundred devices are in line to be tested.
With Google’s Pixel handsets launching on August 20, we’ll soon learn whether the Pixel 10 series will officially have faster charging this year.
