HONOLULU – The University of Hawai’i men’s golf team will close out the fall schedule with the inaugural Pearl at Kalauoa Invitational, Nov. 5-6 at the newly renovated Pearl at Kalauoa in ‘Aiea, O’ahu.

The fall finale features an 18-team field, headlined by No. 31 West Virginia along with Top 100 teams No. 89 Butler and No. 96 UC San Diego.

The two-day, 54-hole tournament begins with a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start both days at the par-72, 6,955-yard course. Formerly named Pearl Country Club, Pearl at Kalauoa underwent a major renovation and fully re-opened in February. Renovations included all new greens and additional fairway bunkers and new tee boxes at select holes.

Hawai’i has annually hosted fall tournaments since the late 1990s. Each year since, the Rainbow Warriors have hosted at least one tournament in the fall and in some seasons two, including this year as the team also hosted the Kā’anapali Classic by OUTRIGGER last week on Maui.

UH will enter eight golfers in the field, five team members and three individuals. The five team members include Anson Cabello, James Whitworth, Dane Watanabe, Chris Salem, and Nathan Szpakowicz while Cameron Combado, Alec Hilgers, and Quinn Murray will compete as individuals.

Last week, the Rainbow Warriors tied for 16th place at the Kā’anapali Classic. Cabello was the team’s top finisher, tying for 14th place at 10-under 203. His 54-hole score of 203 tied for the second-lowest in program history.
