Chicago Stars announced the signing of Canada midfielder Julia Grosso through 2028.
Grosso, 25, just finished her second season with the team following a move from Juventus in the summer of 2024.
“I feel like we’ve established a good base for our team and I’m excited to build on that as the club continues to grow on and off the pitch, and I hope we can make all our fans proud as we try to bring a championship to Chicago!” Grosso said in a statement.
A native of Vancouver, Grosso appeared in 24 games for the team this season, recording two goals and adding three assists.
“Julia has only just begun to show what she’s capable of in this league,” Stars general manager Richard Feuz said in a statement. “With a full season now under her belt, we have seen how Julia can be successful and help lead this team on the pitch. We look forward to her extended time here in Chicago and to seeing her grow as a player and person on and off the pitch.”
Internationally, Grosso has been capped 77 times by Canada since her senior debut in 2017. The Texas product scored the decisive penalty for Canada as they defeated Sweden in the gold-medal game of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Grosso has five goals in a Canada shirt.
