October was one of the busiest months of 2025 in terms of release schedule, picking up where an already hectic September had left off.
Things got crazy right from the word go thanks to a little PS5 exclusive called Ghost of Yotei. Sucker Punch’s highly anticipated sequel was met with impressive review scores and much positivity, and, if we’re being totally honest, we’ll be shocked if it doesn’t rack up a huge number of votes in this Game of the Month poll.
But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Ninja Gaiden 4 has gone down as a bit of a banger amongst action fans (if it wins October’s award, it’ll actually be the third Ninja Gaiden game to do so in 2025), while Battlefield 6 marked a blistering return to form for the shooter series.
And speaking of online escapades, ARC Raiders has gone down a treat as well. If you’re a fan of teaming up with friends — or total strangers — in search of competitive glory, then October’s proven to be a pretty healthy period.
The likes of superbly worked roguelike Ball X Pit, the addictively mundane PowerWash Simulator 2, and lovingly dumb Once Upon Katamari all brought something different to the month as well.
Meanwhile, RPG enthusiasts could gorge on The Outer Worlds 2 — a meaty choice-driven adventure — and the nostalgic revival that is Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake. What’s more, Digimon Story Time Stranger offered up some relatively top monster taming.
