Corbin Elliot is proud of his latest mural masterpiece.

The local artist is the man behind the paint and brush of a new mural, which has been completed at the old City Laundry building located on the corner of McIntyre and Regina Street in downtown North Bay.

“It’s really a celebration of life, so it’s celebrating being together in community and in nature, finding simplicity within or finding the beauty within simplicity and finding wonder and wisdom within the complexities of life as well,” said Elliot during a media conference on Tuesday morning.

Elliot moved to North Bay in 2018 to attend Nipissing University and has never left.  He believes the mural brings the beauty of the waterfront downtown.

“I think there’s a lot of wonder to be found when you’re driving out to the waterfront,” he said.

“I was going down to the waterfront myself the other day, and there were beautiful skies, and here I’ve depicted some rainy skies, but I think it’s important to be reminded of the various conditions of our lives and to find the subtle reminders of beauty through every part of it.”

Neighbours are thrilled with the transformation from an eyesore building to a beautiful mural.

“It brings brightness, colour, art, and makes us smile,” said one man who resides two doors down on Regina Street.

“So we’re very pleased with it.”

Clean, Green, Beautiful sponsored a new mural.

The project was led by CGB Mural Lead, Tom Richardson, with artwork being completed by Elliot.

Harriet Madigan, founder of Clean Green Beautiful, has been thrilled to hear the positive feedback the new wall of art is getting.

“I was reading on social media, and there are no negative comments about the mural,” she said.

“It tells me that the community wants to feel that this makes people happy, makes people feel at home. It’s going to create a connection between neighbours. And maybe it’s going to help people beautify their own yards and things too.”
