Many users online have been posting about how Crave has become a stuttering mess on a wide variety of Amazon’s hardware since the last update a few weeks ago.
Bell has told MobileSyrup “we’re aware of an issue affecting some Fire TV devices and our team is actively investigating and working toward a resolution. Crave continues to operate normally across all other supported devices. We’ll share an update as soon as we have more to provide.” We will be sure to update this story when a resolution is reached.
That said, if you own an Amazon Fire TV or a Fire TV Stick, there is a high chance that the latest Crave update, roughly a month ago, has made your content freeze and stutter constantly.
In the meantime, one thing you can do is cancel your Crave subscription and re-subscribe through Amazon Prime. Inside the Prime Video app, you can join various third-party streaming services, kind of like old-school TV channels. The plus side of this is that you can watch Crave’s content through Amazon’s app, which is working as of the time of writing. That being said, this doesn’t excuse Crave for breaking the app on Fire TV and taking this long to fix it.
We’ve also asked Bell if any compensation will be provided to affected users and will update the story when we receive a response.
Beyond the Fire TV app, which appears to be the most widespread and most extended of the bunch, there are lots of complaints over the past two weeks, including people on Xbox, a Samsung phone, Chromecasts, LG TVs and more.
It’s also worth mentioning that the company has started informing PS4 users when they open the app that it’s no longer getting service.
