Milwaukee Bucks Head Coach Doc Rivers cracks a joke about the Blue Jays’ World Series loss while he was in Toronto to play the Raptors on Tuesday night.

If the Toronto Blue Jays had won the World Series, the team may have got an invite to the White House to meet the U.S. president, as championship teams often do.

But the Commissioner’s Trophy slipped out of the Jays’ hands on Saturday in what is being described by many in the baseball world as one of the best Game 7s ever played in the World Series.

Instead, the Los Angeles Dodgers will be heading to the U.S. capitol for the second straight year to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump, who congratulated the team on their 5-4 victory writing “SEE YOU ALL AT THE WHITE HOUSE!!!” in a post on Truth Social.

If the Jays had won it all though, would Trump extend a similar invitation to Canada’s team?

Well, at least one NBA coach doesn’t think so.

“Look at the good news, Donald Trump wasn’t going to invite you to the White House anyway,” Milwaukee Bucks head coach Doc Rivers said with a laugh on Wednesday.

Rivers made the tongue-in-cheek remark that was met with laughter before the Bucks’ blowout 128-100 loss to the Toronto Raptors at Scotiabank Arena.

“We all OK?” he asked as he entered the press room, which was mostly filled with Toronto media, before tipoff.

“God that was a hard one. Listen, that was a great World Series. It was awesome.”

Rivers praised both teams for their abilities and said that while the Jays did “everything right,” it’s the little things, like base running, that slowed them down.

“God that game was heart-wrenching,” he said. “It was so funny. I found myself wanting no one to lose. That was a great World Series. It really was.”

Rivers also revealed he had been texting with Dodgers’ manager Dave Roberts and that he was “probably still inebriated” after the win, or golfing.

The Milwaukee coach quickly changed the topic after his joke about the White House visit, saying he gets himself into trouble “too much.”

It’s worth noting that most of the players on the Jays’ 40-man roster are American.
