PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa. — The Villanova men’s golf team rounded out its fall schedule with a victory at the Big Five Championship hosted by Penn at The 1912 Club Thursday.

After being delayed a week and relocated due to weather, the tournament was well worth the wait for the Wildcats, who shot 293 (+13) en route to victory. Matt Zerfass took home the individual title, the first of his career, shooting 69 (-1) on the day.

“It worked out perfectly,” head coach James Wilkes said. “I mean, Matt [Zerfass] got his first win and then the team wins it — I couldn’t be happier.”

Vibhav Alokam followed in the standings for VU, shooting 73 (+3) and finishing a season-high seventh. Alokam birdied holes three, eight, 12 and 14.

Last year’s Big Five Champion, Ryan Pamer, finished 10th in this year’s edition after he shot 75 (+5). Pamer’s par at 18 clinched the victory for Villanova.

Brockton English finished 15th, shooting 76 (+6) in the single-round tournament. English birdied at hole three.

Ian Love came in at 28th, shooting 81 (+11). Love birdied at holes four and 15.

The win was Villanova’s first team win since April 16, 2024, when the team won its hosted-tournament, the Wildcat Spring Invitational at the Lulu Country Club in Glenside, Pa.
