It’s not every day a mascot gets to spend time in the legislature, but when it’s to proclaim a special day supporting the province’s CFL team ahead of the CFL West Final, it just makes sense.

Gainer the Gopher, Premier Scott Moe and other members of the legislative assembly, who were all dressed in green and white Rider’s attire, signed a proclamation designating Friday, Nov. 7, as ‘Green and White Day.’

“We are encouraging Saskatchewan to bring out their green and white as our beloved Roughriders gear up for Saturday’s Western Final. Green and White Day is a time to show off our Rider pride and share our love of Canadian football as Rider Nation gets ready for Saturday’s big game. Go Riders!”, Moe said in a press release.

When asked questions during the media scrum, Gainer replied in gestures that were interpreted by Saskatchewan Roughrider Football Club CEO Craig Reynolds.
