It was a mammoth journey – the largest transport operation ever undertaken for a bull elephant.
Putra Mas, which translates to ‘golden prince’, arrived safely at Monarto Safari Park after a 2,700km journey across the Nullabor from Perth Zoo.
Roving Reporter Troy Sincock, who welcomed the Asian elephant, said to Sonya & Jules, “The 35-year-old Perth export was enclosed in a big black crate with ‘jumbo delivery’ on the side”.
