A major closure of Toronto’s subway Line 1 this weekend, as there will be no subway or shuttle service between St. George Station and St. Andrew Station.
A downtown portion of TTC’s Line 1 will be shut down this weekend, as well as the Union-Pearson Express train and Kitchener GO line.
The TTC says there will be no subway service between St. George and St. Andrew stations on Saturday and Sunday for planned work.
“While the TTC does most subway maintenance at the end of service each night, it continues to require early weeknight and weekend closures to complete state-of-good-repair work,” the transit agency said.
There will be no shuttle buses operating during the closure, the TTC says, noting staff will be available to help riders.
In addition, Museum, Queen’s Park, St. Patrick and Osgoode stations will be closed to the public while the other subway stations will remain open for riders who want to buy or load their PRESTO.
UP Express and Kitchener GO
Meanwhile, Metrolinx says its UP Express rail service will be suspended from Saturday to Monday at 3:32 a.m. to accommodate critical track work.
There will be replacement GO buses that will travel directly between the airport and Union Station.
Metrolinx says there will be no shuttle buses at Bloor or Weston UP/GO stations.
“Customers travelling to and from Weston and Bloor UP/GO stations are encouraged to use local transit options like the TTC,” the provincial transit agency said.
There will also be no GO train service on the Kitchener Line this weekend due to construction along the rail corridor.
Instead, Metrolinx says GO buses will run between Mount Pleasant, Brampton Innovation District and Bramalea GO to take riders to Hwy. 407 Station, where they can take the TTC.
“Construction is taking place in the rail corridor as we make progress on the SmartTrack project near St. Clair Old Weston and while we complete preparatory work on the Barrie Downtown Project between Union Station and Bloor GO,” Metrolinx said.
“This work can only be completed when train service is modified.”
