Estevan and area sports fans have a busy weekend ahead, with action across female and minor hockey leagues, Big Six and Moose Mountain hockey, curling, and a CFL West Final showdown. From U13 tournaments to high-stakes playoff football, there’s plenty to watch and cheer for this weekend.

Saskatchewan Female Hockey League (SFHL)

Tonight, the U18 AA Southeast Apex Goldwings take on the Notre Dame Hounds in Midale at 7 p.m.

On Saturday, the U18 A Estevan Steel Reef Bearcats travel to Canora to face the Prairie Parkland Ice at 2:30 p.m.

Later, the U13 A Estevan Steel Reef Bearcats 2 play the Moose Jaw Carpet One Mavericks at Red Knight Arena at 7 p.m.

Sunday features the U18 A Steel Reef Bearcats at Balcarres against the Barracudas at 3:45 p.m. The U13 A Steel Reef Bearcats 2 play the Mavericks at Bert Hunt Arena at 2:30 p.m., and the U18 AA Goldwings face the Prince Albert Family Pizza Foxes in Midale at 1 p.m.

Big Six Hockey

The Wawota Flyers travel to Redvers to face the Rockets at 8 p.m., while the Carnduff Red Devils take on the Cougars in Carlyle at 8 p.m. Both teams aim to build on last week’s first wins.

Moose Mountain Hockey

The U18 IESP Bruins play Wawota on the road Friday at 8 p.m. and travel to Milestone Saturday for another 8 p.m. matchup. The U13 Nix6 Electric Bears take on Wawota Sunday at 3 p.m.

Curling

Drop-in curling returns to the Estevan Curling Club tonight at 7 p.m. for the first session of the season.

Tomorrow, the excitement continues with the Bunge Prairieland Curling Camp. This is part of a series of district curling camps for youth aged 10 to 18 and will run in Estevan from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

CFL

The Saskatchewan Roughriders defend home turf in tomorrow’s CFL West Final. Saskatchewan earned the top seed this season, but the BC Lions arrive in Regina on a seven-game winning streak. The Riders’ offensive line, featuring All-CFL selections Logan Ferland, Jacob Brammer, and Jermarcus Hardrick, has been key to their success. Kickoff is 5:30 p.m. at Mosaic Stadium, with the winner advancing to the 112th Grey Cup.
