King Ultramega, the Soundgarden tribute project helmed by Mark Menghi (Metal Allegiance), has released a new cover of “The Day I Tried To Live,” featuring Soundgarden’s own Kim Thayil, Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante, and Arch Enemy vocalist Alissa White-Gluz.
The track is the latest in Menghi’s ongoing series honoring Chris Cornell and Soundgarden’s legacy, with proceeds benefiting MusiCares. Both this song and the group’s prior “Rusty Cage” cover — featuring members of Alice In Chains and Mastodon — will appear on an upcoming 12″ single.
Pre-orders available here.
Soundgarden will be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame tomorrow, November 8th, at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, with Jim Carrey inducting the band and performances expected from Jerry Cantrell, Mike McCready, Nancy Wilson, Taylor Momsen, and Brandi Carlile.
