It was a defensive slog of a first half in the Eastern Final, as the Montreal Alouettes lead the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 6-3 at the break.

Montreal’s Jose Maltos-Diaz’s pair of field goals outscored Hamilton’s Marc Liegghio’s one field goal as the Alouettes pulled away with the lead late in the first half.

Despite trailing, the Tiger-Cats have out-gained the Alouettes, putting up 167 yards of net offence compared to Montreal’s 153.

The difference, however, is that Hamilton has taken five times as many penalties, taking five flags for 81 yards compared to Montreal’s one penalty for 10 yards.
