Things got tense backstage at AEW Collision after Nixon Newell (formerly WWE’s Tegan Nox) and Miranda Alize allegedly refused to go along with their match booking—and left the building just an hour before showtime.

According to PWInsider.com, the duo was originally scheduled to lose to Tay Melo and Anna Jay in their second AEW appearance but refused to do so. Both women were reportedly frustrated about having already lost in their official debut last week and didn’t want to take another loss so soon.

“The duo were scheduled to put over Tay Melo and Anna Jay, but balked at the booking because they had already lost in their official debut last week.”

After walking out, the pair was replaced by wrestlers Hyan and Maya World, who reportedly earned strong praise from AEW management for stepping in at the last minute.

“AEW was appreciative of World and Hyan stepping up and that each gained points internally.”

Miranda Alize didn’t stay silent after leaving the taping—she took to social media with a cryptic post suggesting there’s more to the story.

“Have SOOOO much to say,” she wrote on Twitter, also re-tweeting fan comments calling for the team to start getting credible wins.

Nixon Newell hasn’t commented publicly but did re-tweet Alize’s post along with the same fan messages.

Newell, who was released by WWE on November 1, 2024, previously opened up about struggling to find work in wrestling, describing the experience as “like a nightmare” earlier this year. Meanwhile, Miranda Alize—known for her previous run in Ring of Honor under the Sinclair era—has been looking to re-establish herself on a national stage. Both debuted for AEW on October 25, but neither are believed to be under official AEW contracts yet.

It’s unclear how this backstage walkout might affect their standing with AEW, but one thing’s certain—this move got everyone talking. Ringside News will continue to keep you updated as information becomes available.

If Newell and Alize were frustrated, were they justified in protecting their momentum, or did they make a career-ending mistake by refusing to lose? Drop your thoughts in the comments.
