Ontario Provincial Police say a G2 driver has been charged after being stopped for speeding on Highway 401 early Sunday morning.

Officers with Toronto OPP pulled over the vehicle at around 1:30 a.m. on the eastbound lanes near Morningside Avenue.

In an email to CP24, police say the 24-year-old driver from Cambridge was clocked going 142 km/h and provided a breath sample on an approved screening device, which resulted in an “alert.”

The driver was charged with speeding and novice driver blood-alcohol concentration above zero, and also received a three-day licence suspension, police said.

Officials are reminding drivers to slow down and drive sober.
