After the 49ers upset the Rams earlier in the season, Sean McVay claimed victory this time around in his coaching rivalry with his friend, Kyle Shanahan, thanks to Matthew Stafford.Â
The Rams’ quarterback had a stellar performance on Sunday, throwing for 280 yards and four touchdowns in their 42-26 win over the 49ers. His second touchdown pass of the day gave him 400 passing touchdowns in his career, making Stafford just the ninth quarterback in NFL history to reach that threshold.Â
Los Angeles improved to 7-2 on the season with the win, keeping pace with the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC West race ahead of next week’s major tilt. As for San Francisco, it dropped to 6-4 on the year, putting it behind in the NFC West race.
