Francis Ngannou insisted a UFC fight against Jon Jones at the White House would be the “biggest fight of all time.”

During his speech at the ‘Salute to America’ celebration in Iowa back in July, United States President Donald Trump claimed he wanted to bring UFC contests to the White House. The 79-year-old announced his plan during the kickoff for a year’s worth of festivities to celebrate America’s 250th birthday on July 4, 2026.

The plans are moving forward, with the president previously teasing that fans will see the world’s best fighters go head-to-head on the iconic South Lawn of the White House. Conor McGregor has been linked with making an exceptional return, but another former champion has addressed the event.

Ngannou last fought under the banner of Dana White’s promotion at UFC 270, when he defeated Ciryl Gane to win the Interim UFC Heavyweight title. However, he left the UFC in January 2023 and was stripped of his championship after failing to come to terms with the UFC on a new contract.

In a recent interview with TMZ, Ngannou discussed potential fights at the White House. When asked if Jones vs Alex Pereira or Jones vs Ngannou would be bigger, the 39-year-old was clear.

“You know the answer, you don’t need me for that,” Ngannou said. “Should I answer? Do you really need me to answer?”

Ngannou has only competed in two MMA bouts since January 2022. The Predator became a free agent after leaving UFC and signed with PFL — where he destroyed Renan Ferreira in October 2024 in his lone promotional bout.

Ngannou is looking for further opportunities in MMA, and he is intrigued by the White House UFC event. He continued to suggest a showdown with Jones would be attractive, adding: “Biggest fight of all-time can only happen with Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou.

“That’s all what I can say about that. No disrespect to other fights or other fighters. I respect all of the fights and all of the fighters, regardless if the fight is on the main card, or prelim, whatever or wherever. I think great fights happen everywhere.

“I became a world champion in the APEX with no crowd, so I respect fight [fights and fighters]. It’s not about the place, but if you want to say biggest of all-time, you make it biggest.”

The UFC event at the White House is expected to take place in June 2026. While plans are not yet finalized, weigh-ins and pre-fight press conferences are set to take place at the Lincoln Memorial, which is currently undergoing renovations for a new museum and visitors’ center. The area will host fans, celebrities and fighters for the blockbuster exclusive event.
